On May 28, 2021, the 20-volume Big Data Terminology, a multilingual intelligent professional dictionary compiled by the Key Laboratory of Big Data Strategy and developed by Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. ("GTCOM"), was released at the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2021. Elisa Chai, vice president of GTCOM, was invited to the ceremony on behalf of the company and attended as a guest speaker of the "High-level Dialogue of the International Academic Summit of Digital China Think Tank Forum".

Worldwide release of Big Data Terminology

Zhao Deming, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, secretary of the CPC Guiyang Municipal Committee and secretary of the Party Working Committee of Gui’an New Area, expressed at the release ceremony that the compilation of lexicographical works, as a fine tradition of the Chinese nation, has played an essential role in spreading information, delivering order, transmitting value and inheriting civilization. As the world's first multilingual terminology series, Big Data Terminology is an innovative fruit of interdisciplinary, professional and open big-data theory research endeavors, filling the gap in the world's big-data standard terminology reference books. It will bring more impetus to promoting the unification and standardization of global big-data terminology.

Lian Yuming, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, chief strategy advisor of the CPC Guiyang Municipal Committee and the Guiyang Municipal People's Government, and director of the Key Laboratory of Big Data Strategy, summarized the features and highlights of Big Data Terminology. According to Mr. Lian, the dictionary has brought forth three world's firsts: For the first time anywhere, a unified, standardized big-data terminology standard system that conforms to international common rules has been established. Second, the multilingual translation of big-data standard terminology covering 21 languages around the world has been completed, fully connecting the language services for countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Third, a proprietary multilingual speech database of big data has been researched and developed, thus enabling the multilingual platform linking and audio touch reading of big-data standard terminology.

To integrate the audio touch reading and platform linking functions of Big Data Terminology and thereby ensure an intelligent, platform-based and systematic reading experience, GTCOM has built a multilingual, cross-industry international team of nearly 200 members to efficiently integrate all kinds of high-quality resources by fully leveraging their professional technology advantages. With a hard-working, rigorous and efficient pragmatic approach,, the team has successfully completed the review of translation contents, the establishment of a multilingual speech database and the R&D of multiple platforms, among other tasks, for Big Data Terminology, thus delivering the first major project outcome since the founding of the GTCOM multilingual language service research base of the Key Laboratory of Big Data Strategy.

During the High-Level dialogue of the International Academic Summit of Digital China Think Tank Forum, Ms. Chai shared her thoughts in a speech titled "Firmly Grasp the Historical Trend of Digital Economy Development." In that speech, she stressed the need to grasp the development trend of digital economy and promote digital transformation, and noted that we need to develop a digital thinking, examine ourselves from the perspective of new-generation information technologies, and carry out self-revolution in response to the problems encountered in transformation and development. The development of digital economy is inseparable from global cooperation and the circulation and sharing of data resources. This ensures broad-based demand for the cross-cultural dissemination of information while providing deeper background against which GTCOM can undertake the multilingual translation work for Big Data Terminology. Thus, by resolutely leveraging the advantages of multilingual language resources and capabilities, GTCOM will contribute its efforts to the digital economy development of Guizhou and the "going global" of big-data research results and practices.
